Pumping Station “Quyumozor Auxiliary” is part of the pilot phase of the VODPROM project. This initiative involves the reconstruction (modernization) of 12 irrigation water pumping facilities in Uzbekistan’s irrigation system. The modernization focuses on each main channel, including the Karshi, Amu-Bukhara, and Amu-Zang branches. The facilities include a total of 104 pumps: 61 pumps with a capacity of 6 MW each and 43 pumps with a capacity of 12 MW each, with an annual total energy consumption of 1,320,000 MW.
Key pumping stations in the pilot project include:
- Bukhara Pumping Station “Amu-Bukhara-1”
- Bukhara Pumping Station “Jondor-1”
- Bukhara Pumping Station “Quyumozor”
- Bukhara Pumping Station “Quyumozor Auxiliary”
- Bukhara Pumping Station “Qorovulbozor”
- Jizzakh Pumping Station No. 2
- Jizzakh Pumping Station No. 7
- Surkhandarya Pumping Station “Amu-Zang-1”
- Surkhandarya Pumping Station “Amu-Zang-2”
- Surkhandarya Pumping Station “Bobotog”
- Surkhandarya Pumping Station “Sherobod”
- Syrdarya Pumping Station No. 1
Expected outcomes of the pilot project:
- Reduction of annual energy consumption by 396,900 MW (equivalent to 30% of the total annual energy consumption of the 12 pumping stations).
- Replacement of 104 outdated pump units with modern and energy-efficient equipment.
- Automation of water management processes at the 12 pumping stations (including the integration of digital technologies for water accounting).
Investment Project Framework:
The project will be implemented under a public-private partnership (PPP) between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the UNICAP Infrastructure PPP Fund, along with its partners. The partnership will follow the model of: design – construction – operation (ownership) – management, engaging a private partner for the operation and management of the facilities, as well as their reconstruction and construction, over a 10-year period.
